I heart south Florida writers! and NEWS!!!

I spent Friday and Saturday in Fort Lauderdale, hanging out with the gang from Florida Romance Writers and the Mystery Writers of American chapter. Let me tell you, they are wonderful folks! So friendly and welcoming and gracious -- I had a total blast. Late dinner after my flight kept getting delayed after storms and we had so much fun that I absolutely couldn't believe it when I woke up at 4:30 a.m. in the hotel -- sick.

Miserably, head cold, sneezing and sore throat, kind of sick.

Thank goodness the Sheraton had a gift shop with Dayquil that opened early. I over-medicated to get through my talk and lunch and I think it went pretty well. I was talking about interjecting humor in dark fiction (romance or mystery/suspense) so it's a topic I know well enough to conquer the cold medicine-induced fuzziness. Then lunch was wonderful and I made it home all the way to my house before I collapsed for 3 days. Ah, those lovely spring colds. Still working my way out of it but actually up and about now, which is good.

So my news, if you haven't heard it around the 'net, is fabulous: ATLANTIS REDEEMED debuted Sunday at #22 on the prestigious New York Times bestseller list!!! Boy was there champagne last Wednesday evening when we found out! Thank you all SO much for buying the book and for recommending my books to your friends. My dreams could never have come true without you.

(non-contagious) hugs,
alyssa

Thank you!! No, I didn't do an official signing, Ducky, so don't shoot yourself! And if you send a self-addressed stamped envelope to me at PO BOX 600025, JACKSONVILLE, FL 32260, I'll send you an autographed bookplate.

Mary - thank you so much! Glad your flu is better.

I'm about half-way through Atlantis Redeemed and let's just say... you deserve to be on the NYT Best Seller List! This is my favorite one of the series so far. Brennan with emotions? Oh, it just makes me all melty!

Hope you're feeling better now. ADORED Redeemed. My friend and I (another fan of the Warriors) decided that we would read it out loud, going back and forth, in front of her fireplace with candles and wine. The perfect ambiance. We're also super excited to see Christophe get his ass handed to him by the Red Ninja:)
